Hoopin' It

So, this season Chanel undoubtedly wins the "Best Use of Childhood Toy as Accessory" Award.  Round of applause, everybody. My only complaint is that you can't detach the bag part to use the frame as an actual hula hoop. I mean, that would really drive it's practicality home (that was sarcasm if you couldn't tell, though I'm sure you could because if there is one thing this bag isn't, it is practical). Not saying I wouldn't bust this out in the hallway at school though, seriously, it is big enough for all of my textbooks...technically...

Discuss: Marant

First of all, sorry (again) for my lack of posts. School has been crazy and I've been sick and I also happen to have friends (believe it or not!) so really, it's just a huge balancing act as is everything else. Anyways, as you know from my whole spiel in my last post, which I know seems like ages ago now, I held off slightly on the fashion month madness for reasons previously explained. AKA, I'm too lazy to re-write them so you can go look if you want. However, I do think that one thing deserves attention, that is the hype surrounding the Isabel Marant show, which happened today. To start off, the background information is that I love Isabel Marant and the things she has previously done in seasons past (tie dye denim, patchwork, color-block windbreakers...) In fact, I would go so far as to say that she is one of my top 10 favorite designers, purely because of the wearability of her garments and the easy-going aesthetic she constantly maintains. So, there was no reason not to believe that this season would produce the same, right? Right, but it turns out, I'm kind of wrong. The collection was lovely, yet I'm not wowed. I guess there is a limit to the amount of folkloric fashion I can handle. Marant continues to do what she does best, but is it to the point where she is starting to deliver the same thing season after season? Everyone, including me of course, was extremely hyped for the Marant show, so maybe that adds to the let down. But what do y'all think? Am I being too harsh? Or are you as equally unsurprised as I am?

ACNE

Hello MTV and welcome to Acne Resort 2013. In honor of this collection I have invented a new word. Racne. Let me explain. As I was browsing the great bounty of the interwebs, perusing lookbooks, reading yet another blog post on the Margiela x H&M collaboration, I came across the Acne Resort 2013 collection. Diligently, I examined it, and noticed a new trend that starts at the toes with some calf-high sandals that Jesus would probably approve of, and ended with a hat that resembled in some form or another, a piece of millinery that a Rabbi would wear. I call this, Rabbi-chic. It's up to you to decide if the chic part is a fitting adjective to use in the description of this collection, but either way, it has a ring to it so lets just let it be. This is how we come to the conclusion of Racne. Taking cues from both the Bible (cut to sandal-boot hybrid) and modern Rabbi dressing, I used my superior talent at mashing words together to create Racne. I'm going to end this post before my ability to form coherent sentences wears off. So tell me what you think. I'm peer pressuring you. Tell. Tell.
